Questions & Answers

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions.

Service

If your journey in the NVV area is delayed by at least 5 minutes, you will be reimbursed the fare.

You will only be reimbursed if you actually arrive late at your destination for the entire route. If you are delayed en route but arrive at your destination on time, the ticket will not be refunded. If you have a single ticket, you will be refunded the entire fare. For other tickets, the fare will be refunded pro rata, but no more than the actual purchase price.

In the case of MultiTickets, the refund is made per journey, regardless of how many people have travelled with you.

Don't worry! You can ask the transport company directly.

As a rule, taxi costs are reimbursed up to a maximum of 25.00 Euros per receipt if it is a case of a proven bus/train cancellation after 8pm until the end of operations. Taxi costs for missed connections in the early hours of the morning are generally not reimbursed

The Anruf-Sammel-Taxi (AST) normally replaces bus journeys at times when traffic is low. This usually involves direct transportation, i.e. a 1:1 transfer. As the AST is a taxi that is also used in regular taxiservices, there may occasionally be minor delays.

If you would like to travel with a group, you must register with the NVV ServiceTelephone on 0800-939-0800 (toll-free).

  • Regional trains and RegioTram: If your group has more than 20 people or includes bicycles, please register the group at least 10 working days in advance.
  • Bus trips: Please register at least 10 working days in advance if you would like to travel with a group of 10 or more people. Normally we can take a maximum of 30 people. Unfortunately, we cannot take groups with bicycles on buses.
  • AnrufSammelTaxi (AST): Groups cannot be taken in AnrufSammelTaxis, as cars are usually used.
  • KVG Trams and buses: You do not have to register groups on KVG trams and buses.

Means of transportation

RegionalExpress
With the RegionalExpress (RE) you can reach your destinations particularly quickly. The RE mainly serves the larger towns in northern Hesse and connects them with Kassel and the surrounding regions. From Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe station, you have a connection to the long-distance network.

The RegionalExpress runs at least every 2 hours. All trains are air-conditioned and have 1st class areas, toilets and multi-purpose areas that can be used for various purposes.

RegionalBahn
The RegionalBahn (RB) reliably connects large and small towns in northern Hesse. It stops at many stations and provides connections to Kassel and other destinations in the surrounding regions. On routes on which the RegioTram also runs, the RegionalBahn only stops at the most important stations. This makes it faster on these routes.

RegionalBahn trains run almost everywhere every 1 hour. All trains are equipped with toilets and have areas where luggage, wheelchairs and bicycles can be parked.

RegioTram
With the RegioTram (RT) you can travel directly from the surrounding areas to the city center of Kassel without having to change trains. Most RegioTrams run every 30 minutes, and between Obervellmar and Kassel city center they even run every 15 minutes. In the evening and on Sundays, the RegioTrams run every hour. Connections are carefully coordinated with buses and regional trains.

The RegioTrams have step-free, wide entrances and offer space for bicycles and baby carriages. The vehicles are air-conditioned to ensure pleasant temperatures. Ticket machines are located inside the vehicles so that you can buy your ticket there.

Tram
In the area around the city of Kassel and in the city itself, the streetcars run in a dense network and run at close intervals. During rush hour, they run at least every 15 minutes. With the exception of one line, all streetcars run directly into the city center and stop at Königsplatz. Most of the streetcars are low-floor vehicles, which make it easy to get on and off.

Many platforms are adapted for the disabled to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility. Ticket machines are located inside the vehicles so that you can buy your ticket there.

Regional bus
Our regional bus routes generally run every hour from early in the morning until late at night and run daily. Where possible, train stations are connected in order to establish a link with the well-timed rail network. The buses run at clear intervals so that departure times are easy to remember. However, there are exceptions that can occur during school runs or due to changes in connections, especially at off-peak times.

Modern low-floor buses are used to provide barrier-free access. This means that the buses have a low boarding height and it is easier to get on the bus, especially for people with mobility impairments.

Local bus
Wherever possible, our local bus routes also run at regular intervals, at least every 2 hours, but often more frequently. However, there are frequent deviations in the timetable due to school requirements. In some cases, AnrufSammelTaxi (AST) connections are also offered to fill gaps in the timetable.

For the local buses, we use modern low-floor buses that provide barrier-free access. This means that the buses have a low entry height and it is easier to get on the bus, especially for people with mobility impairments.

Bus (StadtBus)
In the NVV network areas, 10 cities offer their own bus routes, which are known as StadtBusse. These buses run in Bad Hersfeld, Bad Sooden-Allendorf, Bad Wildungen, Baunatal, Eschwege, Hofgeismar, Korbach, Melsungen, Witzenhausen and Wolfhagen. The StadtBusse buses run either every 30 or 60 minutes.

You can buy tickets for these buses directly from the driver on the bus
