Schülerticket Hessen

  • The Hessen Schülerticket for just 365 euros a year.
  • It is valid for all pupils, trainees, people doing military service and other persons.

Questions and answers about the Hesse student ticket

Pupils from elementary school to upper secondary school, as well as

  • Trainees
  • Voluntary military service and federal volunteers
  • Trainee civil servants in basic and intermediate service
  • Teenagers and young adults doing a voluntary social or ecological year

Prerequisite: You must live in Hesse, go to school or be doing an apprenticeship.


  • You can order the Hesse student ticket from the KVG NVV customer service. Please note that you must order it by the 10th of the current month at the latest for the coming month. The Student Ticket Hesse is a chip card and will be sent to you by post.

  • Young people up to the age of 17 who live in Hesse only need to prove their age and place of residence. A parent or legal guardian must sign the application form. If you live outside of Hesse, you will need confirmation from your school in Hesse or from the company where you are training.
  • Young adults aged 18 and over should have the proof issued directly on the order form by their school or training company

  • The Schülerticket Hessen costs 365 euros per year. It is valid for 12 months. The price can either be paid as a lump sum  or as a direct debit in 12 monthly instalments.
  • Annual advance payment: 365 euros per year
  • Monthly direct debit: 31 euros per month (total 372 euros per year)

  • The Schülerticket Hessen is valid for buses, trains, trams, AnrufSammelTaxi (AST), trams and underground trains in Hesse and Mainz. You can also use night buses and express buses.
  • However, the student ticket is not valid for Deutsche Bahn long-distance trains (IC, EC, ICE) or for private rail services.
  • You can also reach important train stations in neighbouring federal states such as Warburg, Worms or Weinheim with the Schülerticket, which makes it easier to change to other means of transport.
  • You cannot sit in 1st class with the Schülerticket Hessen.

  • You can decide when you want to start. The Schülerticket is valid every month and always starts on the first day of a calendar month if you order it by the 10th of the previous month.

  • The Schülerticket Hessen is only issued as an electronic ticket on a chip card. All important information such as the type of ticket and validity period is stored on this card. You can also store several tickets on the card at the same time or one after the other. The chip card looks exactly like the Seniorenticket Hessen and the Deutschland-Ticket.<o:p></o:p>
  • The chip card will be sent to you by post.

  • If you lose your chip card, a fee will be charged for issuing a replacement card including an eTicket. If you buy the Schülerticket privately, it costs 10 euros. If you receive the Schülerticket via the school, it costs 20 euros.
  • If you have bought the Schülerticket Hessen yourself, please contact the NVV-Abocenter of the KVG if you lose it. You will have to pay 10 euros for a replacement ticket.

  • In addition to the ticket information, your first and last name (masked), month and year of birth and your gender are also stored on the eTicket. This makes it easy to determine whether the card belongs to you when it is checked.
  • The data stored on the chip card can be viewed at customer centres in the Kassel Kurfürstengalerie, Baunatal, Bad Hersfeld and Eschwege.

  • If you are under the age of 18 at the end of a contract year, the season ticket will be automatically extended for a further 12 months.
  • From the year in which you turn 18, you must submit proof from your school or training company by the 10th of the last contract monthat the latest in order to extend the season ticket for a further year. If you do not provide this proof, the ticket will automatically expire at the end of the contract year.

  • The cost of the ticket is usually cancelled when you change schools or transfer to upper secondary level. Check with your school authority in good time.

  • If you no longer need the Schülerticket Hessen, you must cancel it by the 10th of the last valid month at the latest. If you cancel early within the first year, you will be charged double the monthly rate for each month used. You can switch to another annual pass product at any time at no additional cost.

  • No, this ticket is only valid for the holder and therefore not transferable.

  • No, no additional people are allowed to travel with the Schülerticket Hessen.

  • They can also use the Schülerticket Hessen - up to the Hessian state border or the transfer stations to the other transport associations.

  • For them, the Schülerticket Hessen is valid from the Hessian state border or the transfer stations.

  • No, there is no "sibling bonus", as the Schülerticket Hessen is almost always cheaper than the majority of the previous season tickets.

Additional rules

  • Children under the age of 7 who do not yet go to school can travel free of charge on buses and trains in the NVV area if they are accompanied by at least one person who has a valid ticket.

Bicycles can be taken along free of charge.

Please note:

  • Please park your bike in the designated areas without disturbing other passengers. 
  • There is no guarantee that you will always be able to take your bike with you, but we will do our best to make this possible. 
  • In certain situations, transport company staff may prohibit you from taking your bike with you for operational reasons. Please understand that the staff's decisions regarding vehicle capacity and the appropriate parking location for your bike are ultimately for the safety of the passengers. 
  • If you are traveling with a group of cyclists, please notify the NVV service telephone at 0800-939-0800 (toll-free) at least 10 working days in advance. Please note that groups with bicycles cannot be taken on buses. 
  • It is not possible to take bicycles on AST (AnrufSammelTaxi) services.
  • You can also use our bicycle parking facilities.

You can take your pet with you free of charge, but it is up to the train or bus staff to decide.

  • Please keep dogs on a lead and keep an eye on them. Dangerous dogs must wear a muzzle. Dog breeds listed in §2 of the Dog Ordinance may not be transported. 
    Other pets may travel in suitable containers.
  • In a car, such as a AnrufSammelTaxi (AST), dogs may only be carried in a transport box, provided they are no larger than a domestic cat.
  • Assistance dogs and guide dogs may always be taken along as long as the rules of §145 Para. 2 Sentence 2 of the SGB IX are followed.

  

You can take prams, pushchairs and luggage with you free of charge.
