2023

Melsungen-Schwarzenberg RegioTram stop opens in December
DB Station&Service AG confirms that the remaining work at the Melsungen-Schwarzenberg stop has been completed. The first RegioTrams are expected to use the station on 17 December.

Premiere for barrier-free combined platform in Hofgeismar
The first combined platform in North Hesse provides barrier-free access to all trains travelling to Hofgeismar. Modernised equipment, a tactile guidance system and energy-efficient lighting ensure greater comfort. Completion is planned for the end of September, with investments totalling 2.9 million euros.

Deutschland-Ticket from NVV available from May
From 1 May, the NVV will be offering the Germany-wide Deutschland-Ticket for 49 euros per month. Sales will start on 3 April, with pre-sale options as a mobile ticket and chip card.

Introduction of the NVV SparCard and SparTickets
On 1 January 2023, the NVV will introduce the NVV-SparCard. For 9 euros a month, it enables the use of SparTickets with a 50 per cent discount on single journeys throughout North Hesse.

2022

Green Kurhessenbahn with biofuel
DB Regio and NVV are using biofuel for 30 Kurhessenbahn diesel railcars. The pilot project reduces CO2 emissions by around 90 per cent compared to conventional diesel.

9-euro ticket available in the NVV area from May
From 23 May to 31 August, the NVV is offering the 9-euro ticket, which allows passengers to use local public transport throughout Germany for 9 euros a month.

New double-decker buses on the 500 line
Line 500 (Kassel <> Gudensberg <> Fritzlar <> Edertal <> Bad Wildungen) will be operated with new double-decker buses, which will gradually replace the previous red buses.

Bebra's railway station as a modern mobility hub
After more than three years of construction, Bebra's railway station is fully opened and is now one of the best-equipped stations in northern Hesse.

NVV offers over 100 call-and-collect taxis for flexible mobility
With over 100 call-and-collect taxis (AST) in its timetable, NVV offers flexible mobility on demand.

Barrier-free accessibility at bus stops continues to increase in the NVV
Over 300 individual measures are planned in all districts of North Hesse by 2022/23

NVV takes part in European Mobility Week for the first time
In cooperation with the city and district of Kassel, NVV wins both the national and the Europe-wide EMW competition.

2020

Quality campaign for vehicles launched
This offers a new design and more comfort for new NVV buses.

StadtBus Melsungen goes electric
The first electric bus in the NVV runs on regular services.

2019

Start BikeXtra
The project links public transport and cycling.

Sales start for senior citizens' ticket Hesse
"1 year, €1 per day, 1 ticket" - Hesse-wide offer launches for all people aged 65 and over.

Launch of Mobilfalt Melsungen
In Melsungen, transport is launched in the form of a combination of a timetable-free AST and a new city bus.

2018

Opening of Bebra railway station
The newly designed station forecourt in Bebra was officially opened to the public on 5 May.

Opening of Korbach railway station
Korbach's main railway station and the entire area around the station were remodelled for Hessentag 2018.As part of this, the central bus station was made barrier-free with a large roof.

2017

Opening of specialist centre for rural mobility
The Centre for Rural Mobility is opened together with the state of Hesse.

Introduction of the Schülerticket Hessen
For just one euro a day, schoolchildren and trainees in Hesse can use all local public transport vehicles - whether bus, train, S-Bahn and U-Bahn, RegioTram or tram - for just one euro a day.

2016

Passenger information
Real-time data is being added to the journey planner.

Mobilfalt lighthouse project
The NVV is honoured with the German Mobility Award for its Mobilfalt project.

2015

The KinderTicket becomes the U18 ticket
Up to 50 % cheaper when travelling with the NVV - in future, this will no longer only apply to children up to the age of 14, but to all young people up to fulllegal age.

Inauguration of new railway station in Hofgeismar
A service building with an NVV customer centre and kiosk is being built on the other side of the track, with a P&R facility and bus stop directly in front of it.

Reactivation of the Korbach - Frankenberg line
After 26 years, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is now fully accessible by rail.

20 years of NVV
The NVV celebrates the 20th anniversary of the network with customers at the Kulturbahhof in Kassel.

2014

Honoured!
The NVV receives three national and international awards for NVV-Mobilfalt, the NVV 5-Minute-Garantee and the Melsungen railway station.

2013

Honoured
The NVV receives an international award for the best small railway station in Eschwege.

Mobilfalt launches
Mobilfalt supplements local transport services such as buses and trains with journeys by car or taxi.

Introduction of the new "JugendFreizeitTicket" annual ticket
Travelling throughout the NVV area for 12 euros, weekdays from 2 pm, all day on school-free days.

2012

NVV app goes online
The NVV app goes online with the mobile phone ticketing function.

Opening of the modernised Melsungen railway station
The construction of new Park&Ride facilities and bus stops in the immediate vicinity of the station makes it easy to change to the train. An InfoPoint and bistro open in the station building.

2011

Opening of RegioTram stations at Melsungen Bartenwetzerbrücke and Ahnatal-Casselbreite
Two new RegioTram stations are opened on the route of the RT5 to Me!sungen and the RT8 to Wolfhagen.

2010

Start of construction of 3rd track at Obervellmar station
With the removal of the bottleneck at Obervellmar station, the prerequisite for the 30-minute interval of the RegioTram from Wolfhagen and Hofgeismar is created.

2009

Opening of Eschwege town railway station and Eschwege-Niederhone station
After almost a quarter of a century, the district town of Eschwege is once again directly connected to the railway network on 12 December 2009.

2008

Commissioning of new RegioTram stations on the Harleshäuser Kurve
Three new stations are being opened to tap into new customer potential: Vellmar-Osterberg/EKZ, Kassel-Jungfernkopf and Kassel-Kirchditmold.

2007

RegioTram travels into Kassel city centre
By travelling under the main station, you can get from the surrounding area to Kassel city centre without changing trains.

Nordhessenkarte 60plus on the market
The NVV is the first transport association in Hesse to offer an annual ticket for people aged 60 and over. With the Nordhessenkarte 60plus, senior citizens can travel at any time of day in the entire region of northern Hesse.

2006

Starting signal for the north-east Hesse network
cantus (HLB and Hochbahn) launches the NOH (Nord Ost) network with 20 new vehicles and 85 new employees. It serves the Göttingen - Kassel - Bebra - Fulda and Göttingen - Eschwege - Bad Hersfeld and Bebra - Eisenach routes.

Introduction of the "NVV 5-minute guarantee"
The NVV is the first transport association in Germany to offer its passengers the so-called 5-minute guarantee: passengers can get their money back if their journey is delayed by as little as 5 minutes. The same applies to a missed connection after 8 pm due to a delay.

2005

RegioTram vehicle goes into service on the Kassel - Warburg line
The first RegioTram vehicle in northern Hesse travels on the route from Kassel main station to Warburg.

Start of construction of the RegioTram tunnel at Kassel Central Station
Kassel Central Station will become the interface between the four RegioTram lines. It is converted from a terminus to a through station with a system changeover point.

2004

Delivery of the first RT vehicles
The first 18 electric hybrid vehicles and 10 diesel hybrid vehicles are delivered. The RegioTram vehicles have low energy consumption and are therefore particularly environmentally friendly.

Modernisation of the Bad Arolsen. Volkmarsen and Wolfhagen
New platforms, modernised station buildings and improved bus and car connections make the stations more attractive.

2003

Opening of the new Zierenberg - Rosenthal station
A second stop for the town of Zierenberg is added to the timetable.

2001

Start of RegioTram pre-carriage operation
The pre-carriage operation of the RegioTram begins on the Kasse l - Hofgeismar-Hümme line. The region's railway network will be directly linked to the tram network in the city of Kassel.

Bus stops - appealing and inviting
More than 5,600 bus stops have been modernised throughout the NVV area. With a well thought-out, standardised design, they are eye-catching and informative ambassadors for the public transport network in northern Hesse. A quality assurance co-operation with the local authorities ensures that this remains the case.

2000

Modernisation of the station building at Bad Wildungen railway station
The railway station will have a new central bus station with a direct connection to the platform. A new NVV customer centre is being built in the station next to the town's start-up centre.

1999

Introduction of cycle buses for leisure activities
Buses with bicycle trailers still travel to Hoher Meißner, Reinhardswald, Bad Wildungen and Waldecker Land (Edersee transport) during the summer season.

1998

Introduction of express routes
Development of a new service structure in regional bus transport.

Reactivation of the Volkmarsen - Korbach line
After a break of around 10 years, there is once again an hourly direct train service from Korbach to Kassel.

1997

Launch of a new timetable system
A new timetable system has been introduced to ensure that connections are correct, waiting times are as short as possible and passengers only have to board the train.

1996

StadtBuses pick up speed
The first StadtBus system is launched in Bad Hersfeld in accordance with clear timetable and design specifications. Today there are 10 StadtBus systems.

1995

Foundation of the NVV
Many transport companies, the administrative districts and the city of Kassel become one big transport association family. With one tariff, a standardised timetable and a clear structure for the whole of North Hesse and 15 contact points throughout the network. A tram was pulled out of the subway at the main railway station to celebrate the launch of the network.
