Bebra
Previous situation:
Although Bebra station is known as an important railway junction, changing trains was not easy: long routes led up and down stairs and through subways.
Solution:
As a joint project between the town of Bebra, DB Station & Service AG and the Nordhessischer Verkehrsverbund, the station was modernised and converted to make it barrier-free, a new service building was built, which houses a café with toilets and where sales and personal advice on all aspects of public transport are also available, and a central bus station with dynamic passenger information was built.
Today, almost 80 per cent of all trains depart from the central platform, which has three platform edges, making it much easier to change trains. All platforms are accessible via lifts.
The entire station was modernised during the conversion process, which resulted in an urban development upgrade. In addition, a further P&R facility was created for around 100 cars. From there, the station is a short walk away.
In the NVV area, Bebra station is a central transfer point for passengers travelling on the cantus lines R5 Kassel - Fulda, RB7 Bebra - Göttingen, and RB6 Eisenach - Bebra.
Beyond the NVV network area, trains run from here to Düsseldorf, Paderborn, Frankfurt am Main, Erfurt, Leipzig and Dresden.
