Why it's worth traveling with the NVV.
The basics of local transport
Why is the NVV the right choice?
With more than 27 million bus kilometers and 10.09 million train kilometers, we see ourselves as a modern mobility service provider. With our rural service offensive, for example, we are introducing at least an hourly service on regional bus routes and are continuing to work on modern, innovative mobility concepts.
Facts about the network area:
- 7,000 km² area
- 7,113 km route network
- 99 railroad stations and 5,608 stops in the entire NVV area
- Around 1 million inhabitants
- 483.6 million km (passenger kilometers/year)
- 17 NVV customer centers
Would you like to travel with us, but the nearest bus stop is too far away to walk?
Then simply cycle to the stop or take the car or bus to the station. Here you will find parking spaces and parking lots for your vehicle - some even with charging facilities. We make sure that you can change from one mode of transport to another quickly and easily.
You can find more information on the “Last mile” page.
When is the best time to travel by bus and train?
Basically, the decision to use public transport is always the right one. If you are flexible, we recommend that you travel outside the rush hours- from 7 am to 9 am and 3 pm to 5 pm. Please be considerate of each other in full vehicles and make sure that baby carriages and wheelchairs always have priority over bicycles.
How can I get information on timetables, connections and fares?
We generally recommend that you download the NVV app or use the timetable information. You will always know how to get to your destination, where your next stop is and whether the next bus or train is on time. Use the alerts to keep up to date with delays - perfect for commuters. In the “Events” section, you can find concerts and events, for example, and plan your arrival and departure directly. You can also find the fare for your connection in the app and buy your ticket directly.
And if something goes wrong?
If the bus or train is more than 5 minutes late or does not arrive at all, you can report this to the NVV 5-minute guarantee in our quality management system. If all the necessary requirements are met, you will be reimbursed your travel costs. If you have any suggestions for improvement, praise or further criticism, you can contact us via the NVV 5-Minuten-Garantie customer dialog.
Are there any particularly favorable offers?
Sure, there are! In principle, our tickets are valid in the NVV area for all means of local transport, i.e. for local trains, streetcars, RegioTrams, buses and AnrufSammelTaxen. They are valid from the start to the end of your journey, even if you have to change trains on the way.
For other suitable offers, use our ticket filter.
Price information and mobile ticket purchase are also available in the NVV app.
What other advantages do I have as an NVV ticket holder?
With the NVV you are not only relaxed on the road, you can also take advantage of great discounts at many excursion destinations in northern Hesse, for example price reductions for the summer toboggan run at Lake Edersee or the climbing forest in Kassel and much more. At the same time, you reduce your ecological footprint!
Why are the new buses green?
The new design concept for our buses picks up on the hilly landscape of northern Hesse and includes fairy-tale figures that emphasize our connection with the region. The interior of the vehicles is also becoming more beautiful. The multi-purpose area, for example, is larger and much more comfortable for wheelchair users and parents with baby carriages. More than 500 buses will be redesigned in this way over the next few years. The climate will also benefit, as the pollutant emissions of the new vehicles have been significantly reduced.
